I prefer natural light

When it comes to creating a compelling boudoir session, I’ve always believed in keeping things simple. For me, the essentials are straightforward: a talented model, a good source of natural light, and the right vision behind the camera. Working with Georgiana Timuș, who is incredibly expressive and fully embodies her role, made this project all the more inspiring.

Planning a boudoir shoot in late autumn presented its challenges, especially when aiming for natural light. Due to the season’s shorter days, I opted to use a bright, minimalist studio, allowing for abundant natural light without relying on bulky equipment. The setup was as pared down as it could be: a camera, a single lens, and Ikea curtains to soften the light streaming in. This simplicity let us move freely, unencumbered by heavy studio lights or equipment, giving the session a sense of ease and spontaneity.

One of the most enjoyable aspects of this shoot was the freedom to let go of rigid composition rules. With Georgiana’s creativity guiding us, we captured each shot in a way that felt authentic and unforced. Her expressiveness brought the space to life, transforming the minimalist setup into a stage for her personality and movement to shine. Each frame became less about technical perfection and more about capturing moments as they unfolded. Georgiana’s natural beauty and comfort in front of the camera allowed me to focus on pure, unfiltered expression.

In the end, this session reaffirmed my belief that “less is more.” Stripping down to the essentials brought out a raw beauty in the images, highlighting the power of natural light and an inspired subject. There’s an intimacy in working with minimal gear that feels honest, allowing the model and her expressions to take centre stage without distractions.

With Georgiana, this approach worked perfectly. Her energy, combined with the soft light and simple background, created images that felt both powerful and genuine. For me, this shoot was a reminder that capturing beauty doesn’t require an elaborate setup—just the right light, a camera, and, most importantly, a model who brings her own vision and soul to the moment.
